Sanibel Island
About Sanibel Island
Sanibel Island is a quaint town located on the Gulf of Mexico that has the charm of a beach town without all the tourist attractions. You can find a variety of places to stay on the island from luxury accommodations to the mom and pop beach motel. Quiet evenings can be spent lounging on the beach watching the sun set over the Gulf. Indulge yourself in the local culture by attending a beach side gathering, full of music and fun. Wake up early in the morning and walk the sandy beaches collecting shells that have washed up with the tide. Only a few hours drive from anywhere in Florida, Sanibel Island has been one of the states best kept secrets. The island is located west of Fort Meyers and can be accessed by car. It is only twelve miles long with the widest section being three miles. Within that small radius you will find a dinning and shopping area that offer specialties not found on the mainland. If you love sea food you have come to the right place. There is a wildlife refuge that you may wish to visit while there, but that is it for tourist attractions. The point of visiting Sanibel Island is to enjoy the pristine beach and become one with the sun.
